iPhone Bad Luck/Good Luck

I stood in a short line here in my hometown to get a iPhone. It was pretty quick and I was interviewed and made front page in the paper that same day. I get home to activate and I get the dreaded "iPhone activation requires more time" message. I expected that every single person would get home with their new iPhone and activate as soon as possible. I did not expect to to wait longer than 24 hours though.

I waited..and waited...and waited, then I got an email that stated that there was a problem with my account. I called customer support and she told me to be patient as everyone was trying to activate their phones. I did, and I called again later that night. The guy was somewhat helpful but my phone still was not activated. A little later I noticed that my old cell phone was dead. I could not make calls on it. "Sim card rejected."

I was able to use my roommates phone to call customer service again and the REP told me to switch the sim card to my old phone until I get my activation email and that is what I did. The next day (hoping my iPhone would be working) I turned on the iPhone and I was staring at the main screen telling me to connect to iTunes to activate. I started the day with a call...another call...another call, and more. Each time a REP would tell me something different. By 10pm, I was pretty frustrated after being on the phone all day and the last guy I talk to said the the order was placed on hold and did not go through and was waiting on a REP to give it the go-ahead.

Now after all the calls I made (probably 18 calls total) none of the REPS were able to see this?? It amazed me. After the last call, I plugged my iPhone into the dock, about to call it a night and then it happened. "Your phone is now activated and ready to sync." I can tell you that I am now a happy user of the iPhone. It is wonderful!

Hope all of you that are having trouble, the best of luck. Most of everyone's problems should be resolved by now, but on a few forums, i noticed there are still a few out there with similar problems. Be persistent. That is the key.
