Capture Your Own Crashes

Have you ever seen the TV show, Worlds Wildest Police Chases? I occasionally catch it and I always want to equip my own car with some sort of camera to capture crazy things that happen. Although it is not often when I catch something wild happening in my car, but it would be nice just in case.

Clarion's DRC-3 Drive Eye is what I need. This nifty little camera attaches to your windshield (like a radar detector) and begins monitoring. The purpose of the camera is to record accidents, and it does this when it detects an impact or sudden acceleration. The camera then turns on and records 20 seconds before and after the event. There is a power backup feature that allows it to function despite electrical failure in your car. There is also a manual switch to it so you can catch other things also.

You get the camera, switches and sensors, and an 128MB CF card for $411. I would probably go out and purchase a bigger CF card if I got this camera. Maybe in time, it'll come with a wireless chip inside and upload the videos straight to YouTube, because that is where every single video goes anyway.
