Plan Your Destination With Your Own Flight Pack

As scientist strive to create personal flight solutions for humans, I strive to save up my money to own one, but probably not this one. Take a look at the Libelula rocket-powered helicopter backpack. Sure, this backpack is a cool concept, but the more I think about it, the more nervous I get for anyone who wants one. Cool, yes. Dangerous, absolutely!

The people at Tecnologia Aeroespacial Mexicana created this this backpack that has helicopter blades a few inches from your head, which makes me a little queasy. Apparently, the rockets on the tips of the blades are necessary to keep the whole rig counter-balanced. If I'm not mistaken, this is a job that would normally be done with a tail rotor on an ordinary helicopter.

From the looks of the illustration, they have a long way to go before we'll have this hanging up in our closets, but word on the street is that Tecnologia Aeroespacial Mexicana are known for getting their ideas out, so watch out in the near future.
