No More HD DVD/Macworld 2008

Paramount is said to be about to switch to Bluray according to reports. I think this is the final fatal blow in Microsoft’s and Toshiba’s effort to establish HD DVD as the Next Generation DVD standard. HD DVD had been in trouble leading up to this weeks CES conference after Warner Bros decided to switch to Bluray exclusively January 4th.

I figured this would would happen eventually. I was asked a few times who would be the winner, and I guessed Bluray. If only I had submitted my estimation on Predictify.com to win some money...

Of course, each of the DVD formats could be irrelevant as online media surges. Apple is expected to confirm next week at the MacWorld Expo a set of deals with Hollywood studios that will see movies being available for rent on iTunes. I have always thought that eventually, we will see the day that everything will go online. Give it a few years and we won't know what DVDs are.

Are you ready for Macworld? Six Days and 22 hours left... Unfortunately, I can't make it, but will definitely be providing a list of sites that will be there to report live the goodies we will see from Apple this year.
