On Wednesday (Yesterday), after months of nothing but ambiguous screenshots, Facebook finally talked about its upcoming site redesign. It'll make it easier for members to see immediate, dynamic updates from their network of friends, a representative said, and it'll cut down on some of the profile clutter by distributing user information across a set of tabs rather than having it all on one page. This is great news, because as I have mentioned earlier, the problem I have with Facebook is the, what seems like continual, scrolling that has to be done to find anything. Facebook has simply become unorganized, and I think this change will help significantly.
Considering Facebook has more than 70 million members, many of whom don't consider themselves particularly tech-savvy, a massive overhaul won't go over smoothly with everyone. Who knows though! A brief look at "Facebook changes" history reveals some mixed behavior. Facebook members freaked out about the News Feed but welcomed the ability to spice up their profiles with developer applications. As I often say, time will only tell. We shall find out in a "few weeks" but I can almost guarantee that there will be a plethora of Facebook groups for those rebelling against the look.
